“A blind child is seen as a curse or as a burden to the family. These children are left on the street. I have picked up children from roadsides myself. I also lost my eyesight as a child but today I am a senior officer in a public sector company. What would I have done, had I not been taken care of?” asks Veena Mehta Verma who was once a beneficiary of National Association for the Blind, Delhi (NAB) and now works with the NGO to protect and care for blind children like herself.Today, hundreds of blind children supported by NAB, Delhi have found something that they never had before–hope for a better tomorrow. Without Veena and NAB, many of these children would be at the risk of going back to the streets or spend a life of neglect and even abuse. Your support to the NGO is crucial. This Christmas, you can help her children get warm clothes and other essentials. Donate generously

A life of uncertainty & suffering
Even if a blind child is not abandoned they are often trapped in their homes deprived of education or any way of making a living.
According to the nonprofit leader, “For a blind kid, employment is impossible without education. The (blind) kids need to learn Braille or they need ‘talking computer’ aids. Many of these kids are deprived of such facilities”. Illuminating young lives
“At NAB Delhi there are around 200-250 blind kids. There are around 180 kids in the hostel of NAB. We teach Braille, we teach arithmetic Taylor frames. To work towards a brighter future for the blind, we need your support. Please come forward and donate towards our mission”, says Veena.
Students for whom NAB Delhi has cared for are today placed in some of the most prestigious organisations across the world. While some have gone on to make a name for themselves in the corporate world, others have taken up art and music as a profession too. Many blind children are bright, academically gifted, and waiting to shine, all they need is an opportunity. And your donation can give them just that.

In India, blindness is stigmatized to the point that visually impaired children are at best neglected and in the worst cases, abandoned to their fate. NAB aims to break this vicious cycle of neglect and poverty by educating our beneficiaries to carve out their place in the world.
Over the financial year 24-25, we have continued to run our shelter home to the highest standards, all with your help. NAB provides nutritious, high-quality meals three times a day to 180 children with visual disabilities while taking care of their medical needs by arranging weekly medical visits. Our top priority remains their education, with special education classes being held daily.
Caring so deeply for so many children isn't easy. A part of our funds has gone towards honorariums for our dedicated hostel staff, including -
We ensure our kids receive holistic development. They attend yoga classes, festivals, and are educated on daily living skills. NAB's goal is to mold all of our dear beneficiaries into capable, upstanding citizens of India, and by God's grace and your continued support, we can get there.
Please help us help them. Make a difference and donate now.

GIVE is pleased to report our immense satisfaction with the workings of NAB as seen in a recent team visit. We started the day by visiting the various learning centers of NAB including their preparatory school for the blind as well as their sophisticated, technology-infused 'integrated school for the blind' which offers an NIIT-certified, 3-month program for beneficiaries to be comfortable with basic computer skills.
We loved the sense of community that graced NAB's shelter home. There was an emphasis on preparing the blind beneficiaries to eventually integrate into mainstream Delhi schools, an initiative designed for them to lead as comfortable a life as possible. Furthermore, we noted that each student received personal attention from their teachers, thus ensuring no child was left behind.
The joy of coming to school was written on the children's faces. NAB's shelter is a safe space where the kids learn and play and prepare for their futures. We were impressed with the efficacy and dedication of the staff, who were truly going above and beyond for these kids. For example, they maintain the 'Beyond eyes' initiative where curious participants interact with a pitch-black room all the while trying to navigate the challenges experienced by blind people every single day, thus fostering empathy and perspective.
Until then, they need support to provide their beneficiaries with the quality education and lifestyle they deserve. Please help us help them and give now.
