India’s handloom and agricultural sectors are the backbone of the rural economy, yet they offer little to no social security for their aging workforce. These physically demanding roles require a level of stamina and precision that naturally wanes with age. For many skilled weavers and farmers, the transition into their 60s marks a perilous shift from self-sufficiency to extreme vulnerability.

The onset of chronic conditions—such as vision impairment, debilitating musculoskeletal pain, and reduced respiratory health—does more than just end a career; it terminates a livelihood. For those without a family safety net, this loss of income leads to a rapid downward spiral.

To address these compounding needs, Nature Trust began providing nutritious meals and medical support for elderly individuals from these communities. However, more elders are approaching us for both Nutritious Noon Meal Support and assistance with their medical costs, and we are currently in a position to extend the beneficiaries by receiving surplus funds.
