Hi,
I am fundraising for a cause very close to my heart. Menstrual health awareness, availability and affordability of sanitary pads, taboos and social stigmas associated with periods pose significant challenges, including forcing more than 20% of girls to leave school upon reaching puberty.
Can I please request you to donate to my fundraiser - even 1000 rupees will do! I need your support and contribution to help me create more impact and touch more lives. Please back my fundraiser so that together we can tackle challenges associated with Menstruation.
My fundraiser is for Pinkishe Foundation, with whom I have been associated for a long time. They do some fantastic work in the field, and I urge you to check it out on their FB page - https://www.facebook.com/PinkisheFoundation.
Please pledge your support, and donate now!
Menstrual Hygiene has always been a big concern in India. Out of all the menstruating girls and woman in India, less than 20% use sanitary pads. Pinkishe foundation is working relentlessly to ensure that every woman has access to pads which is a basic need for any woman One such event of pad distribution was conducted in Sasani Gate, Aligarh. It was led by Rekha Upadhayay. About 31 women and young girls benefited from this event. They were educated about the process of menstruation, menstrual hygiene, and the importance of using sanitary pads. They showed keen interest throughout the session and listened very carefully. Such drives help eradicate misconceptions, doubts that women have about menstruation and they also help to educate women about menstrual hygiene. The aim of Pinkishe foundation is to help underprivileged women and educate them about menstrual hygiene and we hope that such drives conducted by our organisation will bring change in the lives of many women.
Pinkishe Foundation Sikkim branch conducted a menstrual hygiene awareness session and free Sanitary pad donation camp in Karji Dhupi village. This village is adopted by Pinkishe Foundation a few months back. Pinkishe Volunteer Savitri Pradhan educates women on the proper usage and disposal of sanitary pad. The women here have been using old cloth during menstruation. There is no availability of sanitary pad in the area. Every month Pinkishe Foundation is benefiting about 75 women and girls in this area. This menstrual hygiene awareness camp program is conducted every month under the supervision of Ms Jhuma Sunuwar and Ms Bhawana Sharma. Such progressive steps in the interior villages of India are definitely going to bring a big change towards myths and taboos associated with Menstruation.
