For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. Every year there are 300,000 children diagnosed with childhood cancer, with India having over 80,000 cases. Most of these children belong to low or middle-income family groups due to which the families are not able to offer proper care and treatment. The scourge of cancer takes a great toll on a family physically, emotionally, financially. Now imagine the effect on a poor worker in a small town or a farmer in a village in rural India! They need help with proper guidance, diagnosis, treatment, finances and counselling. They need #AccessToCare and the right to live a full life.  Founded in 2004 by Poonam Bagai, herself a Cancer Survivor, CanKids has taken the lead in providing complete care to Children with Cancer reaching out to over 20,000 children in 2020.  The CanKids model of YANA (You Are Not Alone) is a holistic approach beginning from detection to treatment and recovery for children with cancer and their families. This has been implemented in partnership with 103 cancer centres in 43 cities and 22 states across India. In a survey, we have done across 4 cities 85% childhood cancer survivors had missed more than one year of education because of cancer. CanKids is progressing in our efforts of support and reaching out to more children with cancer and their families, but still a lot to be achieved, and one of that is tough, painful time that these children have to face during their treatment, not only of the painful procedures, but also through the stigma still attached to the disease leading to most of the children facing the ignominy, as they are forced to miss years of their precious childhood, their friends, education 
 We at CanKids advocate for Children for their Right to education through our non formal education model, through which our specially trained teachers through specially devised individual curriculums based on the capabilities, understanding of each child helps the children to be best with education, so they do not feel left out once they go back after their treatment. Back to School, is a campaign to salute the fighting spirits of these children by providing them books, school bags, stationery, colors, lunch boxes, water bottles and so on, as to provide them much better feel when they are with our non-formal education teachers at the centers. Also, collect funds through online platform INR1500/- towards learning activity cost per child or INR 6000/- for annual education scholarship per child. 
 In the year 2017-18, CanKids have reached out to 13,244 children with cancer across PAN India to give education through 3500 learning sessions at our CanKids Chattai Clinics at 51 CanKids Hospital support Units (CHSUs) in 18 cities. Children are getting awareness about education opportunities during their cancer treatment and applying for the scholarships and funds. At CanKids we have provided more than 300 education scholarships to kids across India to do secondary and senior secondary studies.

We are:<ol><li>Asking to meet the Prime Minister of India - Mr Modi -why should where I am born decide whether I survive or not..</li><li>We are raising 300,000 pledges under iPLEDGE- 1 for each child who has cancer somewhere in the world each year - for Childhood Cancer to be a child and health priority in India . Childhood Cancer Knows no borders -Neither should its cure #nomoreborders-India

80% of children with cancer live in low middle-income countries like India. They have less than a 20% childhood cancer survival rate. In terms of numbers, India accounts for 80,000 cases out of 400.000 cases worldwide. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and we are raising funds for holistic care and support for an additional 500 COVID affected children.The last 18 months of the COVID pandemic has meant that many children had to abandon treatment; lockdowns meant they were unable to make it to the cancer centre. While treating doctors and Civil society organizations are working hard to keep the children on therapies, we are seeing more relapse of treatment, children are coming in more advanced stages of the disease, and a sharp drop in the number of newly registered patients failing to even commence treatment; so many more families who have lost livelihoods are in dire need of full support for treatment. Our medical support budget for the year is rapidly getting exhausted. 25% of the 116 hospitals we partner with each year have already used up most of their annual budgets of support, and we have just passed half the year. We need your help. INR 25,000 per year enables us to hold the hand of one family and provide holistic care and support. That is just 27$ per month. With your support we can reach out to 500 children with cancer who need to come back to treatment NOW!
