Shram Sarathi was founded under support from the Ajeevika Bureau, to provide finances and migration services to the rural and semi-rural population in Read morevolved in businesses such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality and domestic work generally regarded as an unorganised sector. It provides financial assistance to migrant labour populations who are considered unsuitable for such schemes due to their unstable nature of residence and marginalised backgrounds. Loans are provided to the family left behind by the worker to complete their home set-ups, soft-loans and health services are also provided through partnerships with other organisations. Term life pensions, contributory old age pensions, savings programmes and facilitation of opening savings bank accounts, direct payment of wages into digital accounts and financial information including the calculation of wages are also some of the areas that the organisation works on. Shram Sarathi is helping families left behind by migrant workers live a better life through thoughtful and transparent financial schemes which do not fleece the poor as in the case of money lenders and contractors. It encourages financial empowerment, growth in income and assets, diversifying into alternative sources of income by adopting entrepreneurship in the migrant population enabling access to important resources like education, healthcare and nutrition. It is active in the tribal regions of Rajasthan and urban pockets of Gujarat and Maharashtra and reaches over 50,000 migrant families in the region.
