What is the Origin of Stray cats and dogs? Why is the population growing so rapidly? Why should humans be responsible for their wellbeing? These ar Read moree question each individual needs to know the answer to and that defines our existence. Dogs and Cats were domesticated and bred by humans 1000’s of years ago for hunting, protection, keeping pests away etc. As time & technology progressed the need of these domesticated cats and dogs diminished leading to their abandonment. These abandoned stray dogs and cats were able to scavenge for food due to improper waste management in the country, owing to their ability to reproduce very quickly their population increased multifold, especially due to the fact that there was abundant food available in garbage dumps due to improper waste management. Humans are responsible for the domestication & population explosion of these stray cats & dogs and hence it is the responsibility of humans to control their population humanely & take care of their needs. Karma Foundation is a charitable trust that works towards the welfare of stray animals. It was incepted on 12th January, 2018 and is based in Pune. Currently our setup is spread across 14000 Sq ft with a capacity of providing IPD (In Patient Department) service to 150 cats & dogs and OPD (Out Patient Department) service to 600 cats & dogs per month.

Issue

The only issue we face is to have a steady source of donations to run our projects optimally. It is our experience that veterinary care in India is highly undervalued, this results in the donation sizes being extremely small.

Programs

  • Renewal Tales

    District

“Renewal Tales”, a poignant and transformative initiative dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of stray animals and abandoned pets. This endeavour is not just a project; it's a narrative of renewal, compassion, and the unwavering belief that every life deserves a second chance.

  • Bionic Care

    District

“Bionic Care” is an initiative undertaken by us at Karma Foundation after understanding the urgent need for such services for stray animals in the city of Pune.
Stray animals, living on the fringes of society, often face severe challenges, and among them, human-inflicted cruelty and vehicle accidents stand out as distressing issues. These vulnerable beings, lacking the protection and care afforded to domesticated animals, become victims of intentional harm and accidental injuries, leading to broken bones and fractures.

  • Gentle Restoration

    District

“Gentle Restoration”, is an empathetic response to the distinctive medical requirements of stray animals confronting a spectrum of soft tissue challenges. From tumours to wound closures and beyond, this initiative underscores our commitment to providing specialized and compassionate care, aiming to restore health and well-being to these vulnerable beings.

  • Oncology Triumph

    District

“Oncology Triumph” is an initiative by Karma Foundation, Pune, helping countless stray animals and helping them live a Cancer-free life.
Cancer in animals, much like in humans, is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that form tumours. These tumours can be benign or malignant. Malignant tumours have the potential to invade surrounding tissues and spread to other parts of the body, posing a serious threat to the affected animal's health.
Cancer can affect various organs and systems in animals, including the skin, breast, bones, and internal organs. The causes of cancer in animals are multifactorial and may include genetic factors, environmental exposures, and age-related changes. Regardless of the specific type, cancer can significantly impact an animal's well-being, causing pain, discomfort, and a decline in overall health.
