    1993

Tribal Educational Rural Development Society(TERDS), an NGO operating in the Araku region since 1993, focuses on initiatives like self-governance, emp Read moreowerment of vulnerable tribal groups, and advocacy for women's and children's rights. Despite government and other agency efforts, tribal children, particularly those orphaned, face dire circumstances. To address this, in 2009, TERDS established the Pratyusha Girls Home (PGH), providing shelter and education to 62 orphaned tribal girls aged 6 to 17. Located in Araku with legal permissions until 2023, PGH ensures basic needs like food and accommodation are met, while also prioritizing education and skill development through nearby government schools and extracurricular activities tailored to each child's interests. Since its inception, TERDS has been dedicated to uplifting tribal communities, with PGH standing as a testament to its commitment. By providing a haven and educational opportunities, PGH strives to offer these vulnerable girls a chance at a dignified life, fostering their holistic development and empowering them to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

The Pratyusha Girls Home has been providing shelter, food, and accommodation to 65 tribal orphan girls aged 6 to 17 since 2009, situated in Araku with legal permissions until 2023. It receives support from various sources, including the Rural Hope Foundation for groceries, the PURE organisation for sanitary pads, and individual donors for stationery items and bunk beds. The home also boasts a well-maintained garden tended by both a gardener and the children themselves. With ongoing construction efforts on a donated one-acre plot, the home aims to provide a safe, secure, and happy environment for the girls, supplemented by traditional celebrations and community support.
