It has offices and is active in South Asian countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka besides India. Read moreIt was active in diffusing the tension with Nepal by bringing in both parties on to the discussion table and is publishing information about the issue regularly. It has set up a Crafts Development Center in Sikkim state which helps local artisans in design, production, skill development and marketing support for their products. It is also providing small loans to the artisans which is a first in this region. It is setting up a South Asian Research and Resource Center in Nepal. It aims to provide support to local artisans of Nepal and would impart training in arts at the same time encouraging research into the local culture. It is similarly also setting up the Goa Crafts Village which is supposed to be a unique and first of its kind in the South Asian region and would contribute to the all-round development of artisans. It has set up Kumhargraam a village for potters. It is aimed at helping out more than 1000 potters settled in and around Delhi by helping encourage their talent, upgrading their skills through training, enable sales through linking up with the market and also provide small loans through tying up with a nationalized bank. It is actively involved in setting up a school in earthquake hit Rapar area of Gujrat. It is also involved in making films based on social issues and presenting to the audience. It has received the award for the best promotional film of the year 2002 for a film depicting the people, culture and natural beauty of Sikkim. It has been organising the South Asian film festival to give South Asian film makers a good platform to show their talent and has been received very well by the film community from all the nations.
