DEHAT's primary mission is the protection of children in India. The organisation's efforts are divided into three key areas:
1. Preventing Violations of Children's Rights.
2. Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
DEHAT utilises legal means and frameworks to safeguard the rights and well-being of children. The organisation recognises that the most vulnerable children are those not safe in their own homes due to various forms of abuse and trauma. DEHAT believes that protection against trafficking and violence can be achieved when certain conditions are met.
Ensuring a safe home environment for personal safety, access to quality education, financial stability for children's parents, and empowering children to fight exploitation.

DEHAT has a deep belief that every child can and must obtain an extraordinary education. DEHAT is committed to finding, developing and supporting India’s brightest and most promising leaders for this to happen. Some initiatives of education taken are as follows:
1. Fundraising for rural girls' education.
2. The School Premises for Innovative & Creative Education (SPICE) initiative believes that Govt. Schools are the only alternative for poorer and deprived children.
3. Womenia Initiative to empower illiterate rural women. 4.The Digitify initiative to digitalise the rural women
5. Bravo Girls initiative.

Light a Life initiative by DEHAT is about enlightening rural lives through community behaviour towards traditional health practices, generating the demands. Impact through Health Center initiatives have been a success, with:
-More than 79% Improved involvement in (Integrated Child Development Services-ICDS) Anganwadi Centres.
-Massive improvement in birth registration coverage.
-Reduction in malnutrition and increase in Immunisation level of children and pregnant women. Increased from 11% in 2010 to 94% in intervention areas.
-Benefitted over 14,000 adolescents and reached over 2 hundred thousand vulnerable community members directly through our health interventions.
-Lower infant and maternal mortality in DEHAT’s intervention areas.
-Improved quality of healthcare provisions.
-Enhanced utilisation of services
-Increased accessibility of human resources in healthcare provision.
-Bolstered availability of pharmaceuticals and other essential medical supplies.

The "Swavlamban" initiative works to improve the livelihoods of farmers and their families through progressive farming. Impact so far:

-Farmers gained more than 50 lakh in profits from new farming practices.
-Vermicomposting has saved farmers 80% of expenses on chemical fertilisers.
-246 farms are in the process of registration with the 30 Government assistance programmes.
-All farmers in the initiative have adopted rooftop vegetable cultivation at their homes.
-More than 10000 “subabul” trees and above 20,000 bamboo trees have been planted for use as construction material and cattle fodder.
-More than 1000 youths trained are sending crores of rupees to their homes and restoring their child and family rights.
-The placement rate of 87% allows our graduates to put their new skills to use immediately after leaving the Skill Development Centre.
