Srijan Foundation (SF), a non-profit NGO based in Jharkhand, was established by a group of socially committed young professionals. Since its inception Read more, SF has been deeply engaged in direct community engagement, focusing primarily on poverty-stricken women and children facing social exclusion and gender injustices. It operates within a human rights framework, striving for comprehensive development and rights enforcement. SF conducts activities within thematic areas that encompass Women Empowerment & Gender Justice, Child Rights and Protection, Women, Adolescent & Child Health, Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihood Promotion, as well as Capacity Building, Networking & Advocacy. The overarching vision is to cultivate an egalitarian, self-reliant society, while the mission revolves around empowering grassroots organisations and the broader community, particularly marginalized and vulnerable segments. SF also aims to evolve into a centre of excellence in gender, child rights, and livelihood. The ultimate goal is inclusive and equitable development for the marginalized, with a focus on Jharkhand. SF operates both at the community and state levels, offering resources, capacity building, knowledge management, networking, advocacy, and technical assistance.

Programs

  • Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihood Promotion Programme

    SF is actively engaged in the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices that prioritize the complete elimination of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Concurrently, SF seeks to enrich livelihood prospects within the community, particularly for women, through skill development initiatives. This involves the creation of alternative livelihood opportunities and the development of model systems that underscore sustainability. The focus extends to empowering women as farmers and providing vocational training, collectively working towards enhancing both agricultural sustainability and the economic well-being of the community.

  • Women Empowerment and Gender Justice Programme

    Promoting women's empowerment and fostering gender justice are central to SF's mission. It is dedicated to uniting women, enabling them to assert their rights and entitlements, thus driving progress toward a more equitable and fair society. This includes efforts to prevent violence against women and ensure access to justice, as well as mobilizing and organising women collectively. SF also strives to enhance women's safety in mobility and combat human trafficking. Furthermore, it engages men and mobilizes communities to actively participate in these initiatives, fostering a comprehensive approach to gender equality and justice.

  • Child Rights and Protection Programme

    SF is committed to safeguarding the rights and well-being of children, particularly those in unsafe situations within mining areas, including children with disabilities. Its efforts encompass preventing child labour and ensuring child protection. Additionally, it focuses on providing alternative family-based childcare solutions, addressing disability-related concerns through Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) initiatives, and actively promoting the mainstreaming of education. These actions collectively contribute to a comprehensive approach to securing the rights and protection of children, fostering a nurturing environment for their growth and development.

  • Women, Adolescent & Child Health Programme

    SF is dedicated to extending access to high-quality, integrated health services for women, adolescents, and children. This includes comprehensive efforts in HIV/AIDS prevention and integration, particularly among migrant populations. Additionally, SF is committed to advancing Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights (SRHR) for these groups, ensuring their well-being and promoting a holistic approach to healthcare.
