  • Since

    2005

Kheti Virasat Mission (KVM) was formed in March 2005 and registered as a Charitable Trust under Indian Trust Act with headquarters at Jaitu town in Fa Read moreridkot district of Punjab. The formation of KVM was a result of constant efforts and a dedicated evolutionary process to address the ecological crisis of Punjab with grass-root actions and participatory interventions. In the present scenario with regard to Punjab’s agriculture and environment, KVM began its awareness- and discourse-building work from 2005 onwards. It has also led to many farmers successfully shifting to organic farming in this heartland of the Green Revolution. In 2015, KVM had celebrated its 10 year-long journey towards achieving the “Evergreen Revolution” and this proposal is also in connection to this noteworthy development. KVM is committed to create a holistic model for safe and healthy food with environmental security in the society from 15 years. A lot of efforts have been made to understand and revive the traditional practices of agriculture and water conservation. Primarily, KVM started working with the farming community and tried to address the various problems faced by today's agricultural system. Gradually, KVM as an organization and a part of bigger social movement (organic farming movement) have attempted to look at other issues in the society as well. We believe that as this movement grows further it will change scenario of technology application in farms of Punjab in the fields by making more space with concern for health, ecology and sustainability in a holistic way with the feeling of love and compassion for all. As KVM is working on its Motto “Sarbat Ka Bhala” i.e. “May Everyone Prosper”  So, there is a great need to awaken people about this crisis and it can only be done by reaching to the people directly. For past 15 years, Kheti Virasat Mission has been working tirelessly to raise awareness of this crisis in the cities and villages of Punjab.
