Pan IIT Alumni Reach For India Foundation aims to support underprivileged communities with a special focus on school dropout cases by providing skill Read moredevelopment and training programmes to help explore employment opportunities. The focus industries for the purpose of provision of training include construction, manufacturing, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), textile and heavy engineering. Vocational Training Centres for school dropout cases, especially those below 10th grade, provide skills which are in demand for the purpose of employment. The training programme extends over a period of 60 to 90 days with a residential gurukul-style setting with 200-300 contact hours. Further, the organisation in association with NABARD has structured a loan-based model for underprivileged candidates who cannot afford the programme fee and additionally also provides for an outcome linkage as a means for them to repay the loans once the course is completed. The skills provided are in the areas of welding, fitting, assembly line technicians, machining, shuttering/scaffolding, bar bending, LCV and forklift driving, catering, electrician, AC repair work, tiling, plumbing and so on.
