Swachha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha is a non-profit organization that runs several initiatives to support and empower people in need. One of our key project Read mores is Aastha – Home for the Needy, a residential facility that provides shelter and support to single women in distress and the destitute. Through this home, we offer a safe and supportive environment where these women and the destitute can rebuild their lives. In addition to the Aastha home, we also run Aastha Bhojanalaya, a canteen located in the Amravati District Civil Hospital (Irwin Hospital) that provides affordable food to patients and their relatives. This canteen also offers employment opportunities to the residents of Aastha, allowing them to earn wages and live with dignity. Furthermore, through Aastha Bhojanalaya, we provide free meals to 60 needy individuals (patients and their relatives) every evening at the Amravati District Civil Hospital. Swachha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha has a history of working on unique and impactful projects that benefit the community. Some of our past initiatives include a public pay-and-use toilet in Amravati, a toy library, nursing care camps for the Pardhi community in Gulgavhan-Bahilolpur village, a helpline for patients and their relatives, an education project to improve learning outcomes in primary schools, and various training programs and activities to support self-help groups. Our work is made possible thanks to the support of many individual well-wishers, as well as organizations such as NABARD, Maharashtra Rajya Mahila Aayog, Bombay Community Public Trust (through Apeksha Homoeo Society), Prayas, and With Arya. We are grateful for their continued support as we strive to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Issue

Swachha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha is dedicated to addressing the lack of support for single women in need, including widows, abandoned, divorced, and unmarried adult women. These women often struggle with securing basic necessities and opportunities for personal growth. Societal stigma and lack of awareness further exacerbate these issues. Through its Aastha project, the organization provides a safe home, meals, healthcare services, and personal growth opportunities for these women. However, consistent funding remains a challenge.

Action

Swachha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha is an action-oriented non-profit organization that provides support and care for single women in need (widows, abandoned, divorced, unmarried adults) through their Aastha project. They strive to provide a safe environment, meals, healthcare services, and opportunities for their residents. They are supported by various funders and partners and continue to seek support to carry out their work effectively.

Impact

Swachha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha's Aastha project has made a significant impact by providing a safe home, meals, healthcare, and personal growth opportunities to a few single women in need. This initiative has empowered these women to lead a dignified life and fostered a sense of security and belonging. The organization's work is also contributing to societal change by addressing stigma and fostering inclusivity. However, quantifying the full impact remains a challenge due to the complexity of the issues addressed.
