The Ugam Education Foundation (UEF) functions as a non-profit entity dedicated to furthering the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Focusing primarily Read moreon Jharkhand, a region renowned for its scenic beauty and cultural richness, UEF is committed to empowering girls through education. Its core objective is to establish exemplary Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in partnership with educational bodies. Central to its mission is the holistic development of adolescent girls, promoting education (Shiksha), health and wellness (Shakti), and empowerment (Abhivyakti). Operating throughout all 24 districts of Jharkhand, with a special emphasis on NITI Aayog's "Aspirational" districts, UEF collaborates with various stakeholders to foster a cycle of empowerment. This cycle includes enhancing learning outcomes, providing gender and health education, and nurturing the agency and voice of girls. Ultimately, UEF seeks to empower both individuals and educational systems, facilitating improved learning, health, gender education, and empowerment for girls across KGBV schools, educational institutions, and anganwadis throughout Jharkhand.

Programs

  • Teacher Training Programme

    At Ugam Education Foundation, teacher training covers various topics such as effective lesson planning, incorporating songs in classes, and understanding children's learning processes. Teachers are equipped with lesson plans for English, Mathematics, Hindi, and art activities. Ajay, one of the teachers, shared his experience, noting that using new games in math classes has boosted students' enthusiasm, and he learned that math learning also involves creating pictures and rangoli during training.

  • Baseline Assessment Programme

    Following an initial needs assessment, Ugam Education Foundation opted to create and execute its evaluations for Hindi, Mathematics, and English. These assessments align with NCERT guidelines and state textbooks for respective grade levels. Baseline data highlights significant learning disparities among children, including spoken language, alphabet recognition, vocabulary, number sense, and place value. It is actively addressing these gaps to enhance educational outcomes.
