Campaign by GiveIndia
About 821 million people in the world – one in nine – do not have access to enough food.
There is an interesting statistic about hunger - the world produces enough food to feed 10 billion people ! So, issue of ‘hunger’ is not caused by scarcity but because of economic inequality amongst people. And children are the worst hit by this problem.
The COVID-19 virus has worsened these conditions. It has disrupted regular food cycles and caused a huge spike in global hunger. In times like these, a higher number of children suffer from malnutrition every single day. By the end of the year 12,000 people per day could die from starvation linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, potentially more than those who will die from the disease itself.
The genesis of the initiative comes from my belief that ‘each of us can make a difference’.
We often believe that we as individuals cannot make a big difference to large issues inflicting all of us and we are too insignificant in the larger scheme of things. But if each of us decide to play our part in whatever way we can, collectively, given the large population, the impact will be huge. A small contribution could help feed and save an innocent child. We are fortunate to grow up with a good standard of living but others are not as fortunate and it is our duty as people to help them, even if it is in the smallest possible ways.
I have started this fundraiser to support this noble mission by GiveIndia: NO CHILD HUNGRY. As a part of this initiative I have put together a three-part kathak based dance performance to motivate people in these difficult times. All proceedings from the tickets and the donations will be going to this mission.
All children deserve basic necessities like food and water. Through Mission: No Child Hungry, GiveIndia and its partner NGOs will be distributing monthly nutrition kits to ensure India’s poor children are not malnourished. The kits will contain immunity-boosting formulas, multi-vitamins, iron-rich food items, and food with high protein content including dates, Horlicks, chickpea/green gram/cowpea, ragi flour, etc.
You could help in this initiative by buying tickets to this show which will be telecast on 5th December on Book My Show platform The tickets for the show can be bought from the link below.

Individual wealth in India witnessed a growth rate of 10.91% in the year 2016-17 against 8.50% in 2015-16 . India also created higher number of high-net-worth-individuals with a growth rate of 9.5% against the Asia growth rate of 7.5%*.
And yet, 36% of children under 5 in India are malnourished*, 51 per cent of the women of reproductive age suffer from anemia*, 33 million children still do not attend school and employed in various forms of child labor,* 350 million Indians still face the burden of open defecation due to lack of access to sanitation facilities,* and close to 18,000 villages in India still do not have storage facilities for water.
We at GiveIndia, aspire to change this inequality. We do that by bringing together the people who want to give and the organizations that work to make a difference.
