The main objective of the Project is to assist the needy disabled persons in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances to promote physical, social, psychological rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities. 
 Assistive devices are given to PwDs with an aim to improve their independent functioning, and to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disability. 
 In India without appropriate assistive devices, PwDs often lack the means to participate in education and training programs for independent living and contribution to the development process. The resulting lack of skills is a barrier to employment. Without income from work, people with disabilities remain poor, and thus unable to purchase assistive devices. Given these conditions, for many people with disabilities, assistive devices are a basic need a need as important as adequate shelter. The availability of appropriate assistive devices are one of the changes that people with disabilities in India require in order to live and work independently. Full equality of opportunity requires substantial changes in social attitudes and physical accessibility. If changes in both of these areas are to make a significant contribution, it is imperative that people with disabilities be enabled to use assistive devices. With that, they may themselves help to bring about the required changes. There is a wide gap between the availability of appropriate assistive devices and the need for such devices. Through the project we focus on devices for people with lower-body locomotors disabilities (i.e. amputated or non-functional legs). Overall, this group currently has the most pressing unmet needs for appropriate devices. Devices for this group typically require the greatest amount of customization. The group's numbers are also large and increasing as a result of disabilities associated with accidents, traffic and occupational hazards. These assistive devices are a key aspect of all efforts to empower people with disabilities.

Disability need not be an obstacle to success

In a world built on the ability to see, vision, the most dominant of our senses, is vital at every turn of our lives. The newborn depends on vision to recognize and bond with its mother; the toddler, to master balance and learn to walk; the schoolboy, to walk to school, read and learn; the young woman to participate in the workforce; and the older woman, to maintain her independence. Yet, eye conditions and vision impairment are widespread, and far too often they still go untreated. Globally, at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment, and of these, at least 1 billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed.As usual, this burden is not borne equally. It weighs more heavily on low- and middle-income countries, on older people, and on rural Communities. Most worrying is that projections show that global demand for eye care is set to surge in the coming years due to population growth, ageing, and changes in lifestyle. Clearly, we have no choice but to take on this challenge. It is time to make sure that as many people as possible able get the treatment and more focus to build new affordable eye health infrastructure. The World report on vision also speaking about challenges in eye care, to get the focus on this problem.  
 The key proposal is to build a centralized eye health care facility to scale up the eye treatment widely to avoid the blindness, which can reduce the burden. People who need eye care must be able to receive high-quality interventions without suffering financial hardship. KalyanamKaroti is committed to improving the delivery of eye care, and building an affordable world-class facility for eye care to reduce the burden of avoidable blindness. But KalyanamKaroti cannot achieve this task alone. International organizations, donors, and the public and private sectors will decide to help KalyanamKaroti then it will be possible to serve society on such a scale. Our hope is that building on past efforts, we can successfully take on this challenge and help people prevent eye conditions and vision impairment more effectively and provide quality eye care services to society. 
 The global need for eye care is projected to increase dramatically in the coming decades posing a considerable challenge to health systems. Despite concerted action during the past 30 years, significant challenges remain. KalyanamKaroti seeks to stimulate the capable members of our society to address this challenge by proposing people-centered eye care (PEC) institute for service delivery to address population needs. PEC refers to eye care services that are managed and delivered to assure a continuum of promotive, preventive, treatment, and rehabilitative interventions against the spectrum of eye conditions, coordinated across the different levels and sites of care within the health sector, and according to their needs throughout the life course. PEC will also contribute to achieving universal Eye health coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3): “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.

National Awarded 2010, Kalyanam Karoti, a non-governmental organization is mainly engaged in the eradication of Blindness, Rehabilitation of Physically and intellectually incapacitating by providing free Aids and appliances, Polio Surgery and Teaching, Training, treatment &amp; facility of a special school, etc. Similar help has also been made available to deaf and dumb, Cerebral palsy, autistic children and the Aged since its establishment.The Organization has been continuously forwarding in the field of providing relief to the disabled, partially blind and the elderly citizens of the project area. Kalyanam Karoti Artificial Limb and Distribution Center: As a further milestone the Organization has established an Artificial Limbs manufacturing workshop and Supporting aids and appliances distribution center. The centre is equipped with essential machinery and Equipment required for the purpose of manufacturing of artificial limbs and appliances. The specially-abled are rehabilitated throughout the year by providing Artificial limbs, Calipers, Crutches, Cane, Blind Sticks, Tricycles, Wheelchairs, Hearing Aids and all the different types of aids &amp; appliances.This workshop has the capacity of providing free artificial limbs to the disabled with the facility of free lodging and boarding of 30 Handicapped at a time who comes for help. The manufacturing and preparation of artificial limbs and other appliances are managed by trained handicapped staff, this centre started working from 2nd October 1981. Till now more than 4.5 Lacks handicapped have been benefited by this centre. Not only from this center, Kalyanam Karoti, arrange camps at different districts such as Aligarh, Hathras, Etah, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Lalitpur etc. different states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, M.P, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, etc to deliver the services at the door step of the needy.Shree Jee Baba Eye Hospital:  “Shree Jee Baba Eye Hospital” at Goverdhan Road, Mathura established on 06 August 1996. The Hospital has capacity 75 beds General ward, and 6 beds in the private ward. Well equipped Operation Theatre with essential equipments. Well qualified eye surgeons and experts are available round the clock for the public at free of cost. Through this base hospital organization conducts eye camps at door steps of the needy underprivileged. The patients are screened and select for the surgery. On the date of surgery selected patients are picked from a common point to our base hospital at goverdhan road, Mathura afterward all facilities of medicines, Surgery, lens, including lodging and boarding, transportation are provided free of cost to the patients with their attendants. After follow up the patients are dropped to their places carefully with the affection. The details of Special School for Intellectual Disability, Deaf and dumb Children: Kalyan Karoti, Mathura has also established a special School for Mentally Retarded, deaf and dumb children in the Campus of Kalyanam Karoti, Mathura, Namely SAMBAL. There are 115 special children that are getting Education, training, psychotherapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Speech therapy, Music therapy, Dance therapy, Play therapy and regular health checkup too. Moreover, children are getting vocational training like – candle making, Agarbatti / Dhoopbatti making, different types of card making, sewing and cutting of dresses, toy making, Guldasta making etc. The purpose of this training is to do minimize the dependency on others. All the above activities are done in the supervision of well qualified trained &amp; experienced technical Staff. The philosophy of the organization is to entrust brotherhood in the community and draw committed professionals to help alleviate the sufferings in the society.Kalyanam Karoti Polio Surgeries - From this facility Polio Patients get benefits through corrective surgery. After surgery Calipers are also provided free of cost to the needed person. Besides treatment surgery and medicines organizations also provide lodging and boarding to all the patients with their attendants. Sachal Chikitsa Sewa (Mobile Dispensary): Kalyanam Karoti is running Mobile Dispensaries at various remote and rural areas of the Mathura district. The mobile dispensary unit provides free qualitative health services for poor people. Every year about 100,000 unnerved people are benefited from this service.  Kalyanam Karoti Physiotherapy &amp; Occupational Therapy Centre: Thee Important and basic objectives of this project of Kalyanam Karoti is to provide physical therapy by the means of Electrical modality and Exercise therapy to the physically disabled children and people. Therapy is given to the children suffering from –Cerebral Palsy, Hemiplegia, Paraplegia, Polio, Arthritis, Spondylitis, Other Neurological disorders Treatment and Therapy is also given to other people suffering from various orthopedic problems, neurological problems and musculoskeletal problems.Ch. Angoori Devi Dau Dayal Eye Bank: There are approximately 25 million blind people in India, which is about one-fourth of the total blind population of the world. This means 25 out of every 1000 people in India are blind compared to just 3 per 1000 in the developed countries. Blindness in most cases is avoidable and curable. Out of the 25 million, approximately 5 million are blind due to defective cornea. A good majority of these blind are children in their early childhood. Corneal blindness means that one’s cornea, which is the transparent thin outer layer of eye, becomes clouded due to nutritional deficiency, injury or disease such as trachoma, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis etc. leading to loss of vision. This blindness can be cured in most cases by corneal grafting. Corneal grafting is performed on a patient when a voluntary donor donates his/her eyes after death. The sad part is that majority of these blind people never get cured because of the non-availability of the suitable cornea.There is a severe lack of donor's eyes in India and only about 20,000 operations are being performed every year, while 30,000 new victims are added each year to the long list of blind people waiting to be cured. Although there are enough qualified surgeons and plenty of potential patients corneal transplantation is rather scarce for want of donor's eyes. Nearly 10 million people die in India, every year. Sadly the corneal donation does not exceed more than a few thousand. The reasons for the very low number of eye donations in India are manifold. For this purpose, Kalyanam Karoti established an eye bank at kalyan dham.
