“The abusers insert a candle or fingers in the vagina of children torture them. If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. When children stay in these conditions, it is painful even to hear,” says Lalitha SA of the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID), while talking about many heart-rending stories of trafficked children in red-light areas. In over three decades, the team of SPID led by Lalitha, has saved over 3000 children from the red-light areas in Delhi, such as GB Road, and many from clutches of sex trafficking. While Lalitha has also helped many women escape the clutches of being forced into sex work, the SPID is focused on rescuing children and giving them a better life.Sadly, many more children need to be rescued and need a loving home. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. He has further supported over 20,000 children with a better life.Sadly, 250 of the children rescued from abuse and exploitation are HIV positive. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Children are the future as well as a source of hope and inspiration for the development of any nation. Thus they need to be protected and a proper environment should be provided for their healthy growth and development. But it has been observed that children face multiple problems and it has been a hindrance to their development. Among various issues, Child labour is one of the most crucial and dangerous issues in today’s world. Instead of going to school and experiencing childhood, 171 million children (2013 report of the ILO) across the world are trapped in the vicious cycle of child labour and are involved in different types of work. These children are deprived of their basic right to live a dignified life, access proper education, and a safe environment to grow up in. This is mental, physical, socially, or morally harmful to the future of children. In India, we report a similar report; almost 12 million children are engaged in child labour. What’s alarming though is the fact that since the year 2000 child labour has been reduced by a measly 2.2% only. Action Plan for Manosakha Project:<ol><li>Every day minimum of 2 hours of activity in 2 batches based on education tutorials.</li><li>Life skills sessions for the children</li><li>One hour per week reading activity for children.</li><li>Physical activity for children on a daily basis</li><li>One hour per week art and craft activity for children.</li><li>One hour per week general knowledge learning activity.</li><li>Activities with parents - Parents meeting once a month.</li><li>Home visits by teachers once in three months. </li><li>Visits to school teachers to discuss the progress of children. </li><li>Recreational visits - Visits to different corporate, malls, or movies. </li><li>Project staff will get an in-depth orientation of the project and training related to the development of the children and related social issues.</li><li>Monthly review meetings and the training.</li></ol> Impact of the Manosakha Project:<ol><li>The children belonging to migrant workers, daily wagers, domestic workers, sex workers, children belonging to the transgender community and the children who are socially and economically challenged will have better reading, writing, and numeric abilities which will improve their overall academic performance. </li><li>The children will have better academic performance in the school which will add their confidence and will also help them to retain themselves in the schools.</li><li>Children will have better interpersonal skills, self-management skills, they will develop skills for critical thinking and better emotional management.</li><li>The children will have better grooming, improved communication skills, and a positive self-image.</li><li>Children will have better health with awareness sessions, nutrition, and exercise.</li><li>Children will also receive counselling as and whenever necessary this will help them to analyze their issues in a better way, and understand how to deal with the issues or problems that they are facing. Overall they will have someone with whom they can open their heart and seek timely help. </li><li>Parents of the children will be aware of the importance of education, they will support their children for education and their development and parents will have better parenting skills.</li></ol>

Sex workers are often stigmatised, marginalised and criminalised by the societies in which they live. In various ways, these factors contribute to their vulnerability to HIV.Even though sex work is at least partially legal in some countries, the law rarely protects sex workers. 
 On this note, Purnkuti has pledged to provide nutritional support to 60 HIV positive sex workers for the upcoming year in Budhwar Peth.Hope you are doing well and are safe.Purnkuti, is a Non-Government Organization (NGO), duly registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960. We are active in Child &amp; Women Development space through Manosakha and Waterlily Education System since 2011. The lack of acceptance and awareness, has left thousands of sex workers and HIV affected women across India in a very vulnerable position.Every month Purnkuti will be providing a box containing ( 1 kg peanut - Rs 120 per kg , jaggery 1 kg - Rs 80 per kg and dates 1/2 kg - Rs 150 per kg) to the HIV positive sex workers to maintain their nutrition. 
 As mentioned ,we have held various successful drives and initiatives during the pandemic.We would further like to collaborate with your organisation to help the underprivileged by granting us funds for the same.We as an organisation resonate with the work you do and us coming together for a cause is going to be beneficial for the society.We will utilise the funds for impactful causes and amplify the work we currently do.Hope to hear from you soon and discuss about this further.We hope that our efforts will bring some light in these hard times. Our association can be a fruitful one.
