“We received a distress call saying that a blind girl is being held captive by a woman and is being forced to beg. Our volunteers were able to rescue that girl and bring her to the Blind Welfare Society home for girls. We cared for her and educated her. Today that girl is a senior government official”, says Asha Bhola, President, Blind Welfare Society (BWS) as she recalls how her organisation has been able to transform lives.BWS has been a ray of hope for 40 such blind girls, many of whom have been abandoned by their families owing to their visual impairment. Individuals with challenges need a non threatening and joyous approach to rehabilitation and empowerment that will facilitate their development in a holistic and ideal manner. Conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, Autism and other causes of developmental delays are so challenging in themselves that an alternative approach to rehabilitation and empowerment that can lend itself to addressing the development needs is surely the need of the hour. 
 The use of Theatre Arts as a developmental tool provides the answer to this very need. Being non threatening and fun it provides a platform for self development in an ideal manner. Being a close imitation of life it bridges the gap between learning and the application of learning and allows the individual to grow spontaneously and in an active manner.<ol><li>Individuals with differing needs and challenges in need of developmental inputs will be identified.</li><li>Individuals and group assessments will be done to understand the areas of challenges and developmental programs will be structured to suit the needs and achieve the relevant goals.</li><li>Trained facilitators will work with them to achieve the goals that was set.</li><li>Periodic reviews will be done and progress will be documented.</li></ol> 
 We are looking forward to impact the lives of 300 to 500 individuals with special needs through this project.
