Bi was suffering from cancer but still managed to meet her goat one last time.
Sita was Bi’s closest companion until she passed away from cancer

An unlikely friendship

Have you ever become friends with someone completely unexpected? Or have you ever thought you should donate for cancer patients? If your answer to both questions is no, then this story could change your mind. I’ve made a few unlikely friends but none come close to Bi’s friendship with Sita– her goat.

Bi was an elderly homemaker from a poor family in rural Karnataka. When her husband passed away, she was left with no one to call her own. To get by, she took up goat rearing. This is how she met Sita.

Unlike most goats, Sita showed human emotions which instantly made Bi fond of her. Over time, a unique friendship formed between them.

A year later, Bi learnt that she had terminal cancer. She accepted the painful news with grace and decided to move to the NGO Karunashraya to spend her last days in peace. But while at Karunashraya, Bi was constantly worried about Sita.

Since her condition was deteriorating, the staff at Karunashraya decided to bring Sita to meet Bi. When Sita first saw Bi, she was angry and wouldn’t look at her. But when Bi put her on her lap, the goat fell asleep in her arms. A few days later, Bi passed away peacefully.

Cancer patients often have simple wishes and Karunashraya goes to great lengths to fulfill them. Your support could give someone like Bi get the care they deserve in their last days. We at Give, urge you to donate for cancer patients. Will you help them?
