Daan Utsav is a beautiful festival celebrated from 2nd to 8th October, across the length and breadth of the country to highlight the undying spirit of charity. Numerous corporates, not-for-profits and volunteers came together to extend the generosity. Even PM Narendra Modi inspired our countrymen to participate, on his famous Mann Ki Baat radio show
It’s a brilliant concept, isn’t it? Encouraging citizens to take some time off from the daily rat-race to do something for humanity! But there might be times when it isn’t feasible to volunteer in person and for such moments we have LetzChange. Our portal allows you to search for the cause and project of your choice, make donations and involve social connections in raising funds.
There is intrinsic goodness in everyone but sometimes non-profits that are doing good work but that are in need of funds, are unable to tap into the spirit of generosity. So LetzChange took the initiative to motivate the newly on-boarded charities on our portal. During the Daan Utsav’16 week, we hosted a Giving Challenge, setting rewards for highest amount of donation collected, keeping in view the number of unique donors.
We introduced a slab system whereby all organisations had a good chance of winning, depending on the resources available to them.
PRIZES | AMOUNT | QUALIFYING CONDITION | WINNERS | CAUSE |
Grand Prize | Upto 1 lakh | 100 unique donors | PURE India Trust | Education and Healthcare |
Good Going | 50,000 | 50 unique donors | Deesha Education Foundation | Healthcare: Eye Bank |
First Milestone | 25,000 | 25 unique donors | New Life | Childcare |

Much hard work was put in by all the winning teams, adopting varied strategies to maximise the receipt of donations. While some sent their volunteers to ask for donations and make donors comfortable with the idea on online giving, others used their existing network and social media connections to tap into retail donations.
We congratulate the winners for the hard work put in! Let this set as an example for participating NGOs as well as other partners to perform better in the coming challenges, hosted by LetzChange.
