Give is an NGO of choice for billionaire philanthropist’s largesse

IT is not every day that we have awesome news to share that makes doing what we do even more meaningful. Give has just been awarded a grant by American novelist and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. We are one among 286 nonprofit organisations in the world to be part of an overall gift of $2.739 billion.

More than anything this is testimony to the impactful work we have been doing over the years, including our recent COVID response work, and the trust placed in us to continue on our journey of enabling giving to alleviate poverty in India.

Putting money to good use

Scott wrote in her blog post on Tuesday: “Because we believe that teams with experience on the front lines of challenges will know best how to put the money to good use, we encouraged them to spend it however they choose. Many reported that this trust significantly increased the impact of the gift.”

This is a proud moment for Give, but also one of great responsibility. We are extremely grateful to be a beneficiary of this generous grant driven by what the billionaire author truly believes. She writes: “It would be better if disproportionate wealth were not concentrated in a small number of hands.”

Give’s  21-year mission to enable a giving culture would not have been possible without the tremendous faith placed in us by donors and by the support from our partner NGOs – some of who are also recipients of Scott’s philanthropy among the handful of nonprofits in India. And for this we are thankful.
