The world is like a mirror; smile and it smiles at you. Nakshatra, Bhumi’s annual inter-orphanage talent festival, wishes to give vision to the blurring eyes of children living in shelter homes. People are busy changing the world but the smiles shared by Nakshatra have changed lives of many in the past five years.

The festival was initially started by Bhumi, one of India’s largest volunteer-based organisations helping to educate underprivileged children, to push the children out of shelter homes into a more realistic and competitive world. In the opening year, approximately 800 children participated from 25 orphanages in one city. But the number soon rose to 5,800 children from 110 orphanages from five cities by the fifth annual festival. After the great success of the fifth edition, Nakshatra is set to welcome more participation from various cities, this year. Bhumi’s army of volunteers, working professionals under the age of 30 and go through mandatory orientation, are working tirelessly to make the sixth edition more entertaining, educational and worthwhile for the children.

The festival is a talent fest covering everything from home art and culture to science and sport. It provides a platform for children to socialize and showcase their talent in front of a large audience, boosting their self-confidence. Pot painting, clay making, fabric art, group dance, mimicry, medley song, various sports, elocution and debates, among others are a few of the competitions students take part in, with the brightest kids awarded with attractive prizes, further multiplying their smiles and inspiring the volunteers to create an even bigger and better event every year.

This year LetzChange is proud to be an official partner of Nakshatra, not only acting as the exclusive ticket outlet but also pledging to match all proceeds raised for the event. Each donation made on LetzChange directly contributes to sending orphaned children to Nakshatra. Just Rs. 250 will fully sponsor Nakshatra for one destitute child, but with the LetzChange donation match promotion, two children will attend at no extra cost to you. Let’s make this year’s Nakshatra a huge success and provide as many children as possible with the opportunity to ‘Dream. Discover. Dazzle’!
