A story of lasting change
Many years ago, a little boy was walking to school when he saw another boy about his age working in a cobbler’s shop. Upon noticing this, he became confused and wondered ‘Why did this child not go to school? Were there other children like him who were denied the opportunity of education?’
He asked the cobbler this question, who replied, ‘Some children are born to work’.
This incident deeply troubled the boy and because of this, he started questioning many things around him. “How can I make a difference? Can people donate for children like this?” Eventually, he renounced his surname and adopted ‘Satyarthi’ which means a ‘Seeker of Truth’.
This is the story of Kailash Satyarthi, child rights activist, founder of the Bachpan Bachao Andolan, and the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, 2014.
Give’s partner NGO Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation envisions a world where every child is safe, healthy and educated. We are looking for committed donors who want to join their fight for children’s rights. There are others like Kailash Satyarthi, who have made a big impact. Inspired by them, we pledge to donate for children.
