And the situation has become even more extreme now. Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have come across innumerable stories of heartbreaking hardship.
Migrant labourers, other daily wage earners, street vendors, domestic helpers and nearly all workers in the informal sector have been hit the hardest. Due to the loss of their livelihood, every day is a struggle as they have no food or money to sustain themselves and their families. It has become a matter of survival as they suffer the collateral damage of this shutdown. Besides government efforts, social workers and non-profits are working tirelessly at the forefront to reach such vulnerable groups with food and health essentials.
