LetzDream Foundation and Oxfam Join Hands to Help Nepal Earthquake Victims

Earthquake

It has almost been a month since Nepal came face to face with one of the biggest natural disasters of recent times, with the first major earthquake striking the nation on April 25th, 2015. But that wasn’t the end of the misery as the Himalayan nation continued to face aftershocks, escalating the tragedy further.

While the relief operation has been in full swing since then, LetzDream Foundation has stepped up to extend every aid possible to the victims of the earthquakes by providing matching-grant to all donations to Oxfam India’s ‘Provide vital relief to families impacted earthquakes in Nepal’ project on LetzChange.

Oxfam’s efforts in reaching out to as many survivors as possible and helping them recover well has been commendable. Till now, clean water has been provided to over 50,000 people and shelter to around 9,000. The organization’s aim is to provide aid to more than 4,00,000 people and to achieve the same, work has already been started in five districts- Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu valley, and the more remote Gorkha and Sindhupalchwok districts.

Over 1440 households have received emergency shelters and water containers and now the focus is on providing transitional shelters to ensure that the monsoons (which are round the corner) don’t make matters worse for the families.

But as the extent of the destruction is enormous, there is a lot left to done. Generous contributions to Oxfam’s project on LetzChange can give a new meaning to the lives of those injured and displaced in this calamity. And as all donations would be doubled, the impact is sure to help many in starting their life afresh.
