What’s most impressive about CORP’s impact is that its beneficiaries from the slum go on to earn Rs. 15,000-30,000 a month, helping them to truely lead independent lives.

Selvaraj Veera Pandian
Selvaraj was not able to walk due to a deformity in his left leg. He still recalls the day he first came into CORP’s crèche at Shalom center. It was the 1st of December, 1995 and he was just 4 years old then. CORP provided him with calipers and has also, since then, assisted him with the cost of repairs and replacement of his calipers.

Selvaraj studied at Gandhi Memorial School and subsequently completed his T.Y.B.Com. After graduating, he did a course on tax management as well as training in data entry. Thereafter, with CORP’s assistance, he got a job with Deutsche Bank at Andheri, Mumbai. His work involves investment banking and process analysis of equity markets. He currently works out of Deutsche Bank’s Pune branch and earns Rs. 27,000 a month.

In a position to support his family now, he says, “It is my prayer that CORP will continue to support many more disabled and underprivileged children like me.”

Anil Kondvilkar
Anil Kondvilkar was not able to walk due to a deformity that affected him waist downwards. After joining CORP’s centre on the 1st of September, 1991, he underwent physiotherapy and follow-up treatments by Dr. Jhaveri. He was also provided with calipers.

Anil studied at a special school up to standard 5; then completed standard 6 to 10 at a municipal school. CORP took care of his all costs related to his education – from tuitions to school accessories to uniforms and shoes, and even healthcare. After completing standard 10, he went on to do a 2-year Interior Design Diploma at the Art Academy of Design, in Nerul. He also did a course in Auto-CAD.

Today, he works as a Senior Interior Designer for Design Forum Company at Andheri, Mumbai and earns Rs.30,000 a month. As a way to give back for the good fortune he received, he shares his expertise in Interior Designing work with people of the community.

Johnson Durai
Due to the deformity in both legs, Johnson Durai was not able to walk. CORP provided him with calipers to help make him mobile.

CORP also helped him get an education at Kamraj school by sponsoring his education, tuitions, school accessories, healthcare needs etc. Thereafter, completed his Bachelor in Science. He also did a 6-months Graphic Design course. Today, he works with NeoSoft Company and draws a salary of Rs.15,000 per month. Besides, he is also studying LLB (1st year) at Dr. Ambedkar Law College.
