Aligning to UN Sustainable Goals, Pragati ensures that it not only provides a quality education, but the children also have access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services while at school.
Every year Gurgaon faces a huge shortage of water due to harsh summer, inadvertent usage of water resources and an increase in the population. The depleted water supply to the school has caused dry drinking water taps, lack of sanitation in the toilets and given the current global pandemic situation, no water facility to handwash as well.
This current lack of water facilities at school has created a significant impact on student learning, health, and dignity, particularly for girls.
Project Dry Taps aims at alleviating the water problem in the school by building additional underground water storage tanks in the 3 school premises so that potable water is available to students during their school hours.
Pragati operates 3 primary schools with a total strength of 400+ students in Gurgaon. The provision of water in these schools will not only maintain personal and environmental hygiene and reducing student dehydration, it has also been associated with improved cognitive abilities.
The health & well-being of 400+ primary students lies in making these dry taps flow with potable water
