100 LIVES

The goal of 100 Lives is enabling independent life of dignity after a Spinal Cord Injury that imposes multiple, lifelong disabilities, and for which there is no cure. Even today less than 10% get access to Quality Rehabilitation, the only way forward. About 80%-plus of persons with spinal cord injury are poor. On a conservative basis, about 15,000 persons sustain spinal cord injury in India every year. A vast proportion of them do not even know how to deal with it. 100 Lives will enable rehabilitation and facilitate independent living for 100 persons with Spinal Cord Injury in 2018.

This will give them a second chance in life after a devastating injury.

100 Lives is an initiative of The Ganga Foundation, an organisation focused on enabling inclusion of persons with spinal cord injury.

The Ganga Foundation has extended 28,000-plus (and counting) acts of financial and non-financial support in its work since early 2010.

The Ganga Foundation will partner with high quality rehabilitation centres to facilitate rehabilitation. Quality Peer Guidance will also be enabled to motivate, train and enhance quality of life.

As there is no treatment for Spinal Cord Injury anywhere in the world, rehabilitation is the only way to restore lives of persons with Spinal Cord Injury.

The goal of rehabilitation is resumption of a functionally active life with as much independence as possible. This project will restore lives, create role models and stress importance of Quality Rehabilitation. It will enable persons with spinal cord injury be independent, become active in the community and get back to education / livelihood. It will reduce stress on the person injured and the family by making enabling the person lead a meaningful and dignified life.
