CREA, is a futuristic co-educational school which practices modern concept-based learning. The school is located in Nagamangalam village,12 kilometres from Trichy city. 90 % children come from 30 rain dependent villages around the school. 10% come from Trichy city sub urban locations. Nearly 60 percent of the children are first generation learners. There are 25 migrant children whose parents are employed in steel industries. We strive to give world class education and be affordable to rural children from middle, lower middle and poor families. Our children hail from Manikandam block of Trichy district and Viralimalai block of Pudukottai district. Both are drought prone areas. A majority of our parents are small and marginal farmers with less than two acres of land. Their agriculture is rain dependent. Many parents work in nearby towns as daily labourers in small industries, construction and other informal sector. During the lockdown the daily migrant workers have lost their jobs. Farmers cultivating perishable commodities like fruits, vegetables, and flowers have incurred losses. Agriculture workers lost work due to lack of transport. Labour work under MNREGS had stopped. Small dairy and poultry farmers have faced major losses too. Many of the children are living on boiled rice.
The Nutrition project is an effort to support these students and their siblings in this time of crisis with basic supplementary food which is important for the cognitive development and well-being of their children.

47 students are from families whose parents are out of work migrant workers / widows and single parents unable to fend for themselves during lockdown. We will provide full ration kits to these families.
The lockdown has severely affected lives and livelihoods across all the villages where our students. Getting regular income to tide over the crisis is not easy for the parents of our students who are farmers and workers. Women who work as street vendors, domestic workers, have experienced severe loss of work and income.
Organizing supplementary nutrition to children is an essential need for this community. This is important for the cognitive development and well-being of their children. We hope to reduce any impact the corona crisis will have on the growth of our students and their siblings
