Story

India has the world's largest youth population with over 356 million people under the age of 25. Sadly, despite over 50% of its population falling under this category, India has been unable to garner adequate representation or make a mark on a global scale in the world of sports. In a country where complexities are rampant, sports in India offer something exceptional and remarkably refreshing. The effort towards representation and equality in sports will take time and resources. Sport therefore remains a luxury at best. Children from underprivileged backgrounds are therefore at a great disadvantage and mostly spend their life in miserable conditions while undergoing a lot of frustration. To add to this, the growing rates of metabolic illnesses is on the rise in India. Sports is a good way to incorporate a healthy lifestyle in children. Ingratiating a sports culture at the grassroots level and reaching out to the most marginalized is of primary importance for a fitter and healthier youth population. Our Sports 4 Health program aims to solve this issue.

Sports 4 Health is an initiative to promote the concept of sports among children from all backgrounds and to engage them in sports; especially football and boxing as a means to fitness. Improving health through sports is the key agenda of this project. Overseen by professional coaches, the program aims at a happy, healthy and fit India. So far, we have reached out to over 2500 children through the Sports 4 Health program. Additional support provided is in the form of football and boxing sports kits, diet, special camps, sports equipment, medical assistance, local and outstation tournament, higher education support for deserving students to enable them to play to their fullest potential. We have identified 100 children from Vellore and Krishnagiri districts of TN. We are providing them with sports coaching, mentor-ship, counselling, sports kits, yoga, meditation, awareness programs nutritional support and any additional support that they would require to lead a healthy life and become quality sports-people who are also socially conscious.

Through this program, we aim to raise awareness on the importance of incorporating sports into daily routine. Identified 100 children (50 from Krishnagiri and 50 from Dharmapuri) will be provided with Sports Kits (1 per person comprising football shoes, jersey, bag, t-shirts), nutritional supplement (healthy porridge comprising millet and nuts based food) and personal kit. 100 students will be capacitated through this program.
