21st Century Employability Training and Career Service Support to Youth acorss UP, Bihar and Haryana

India’s massive and growing youth population (>40% of the population is less than 20 years old; more than 300 million people will enter the workforce in the next twenty years) presents an enormous opportunity for the country, while at the same time an equally significant challenge. Of the over six million college graduates each year, only 20% are deemed employable by industry. In the north and eastern part of the country, where Medha primarily works, the problem is even more significant. There is a need to bridge this gap between education and employability to improve employment outcomes.

The key objective of the project is to improve employment outcomes, increase employability, and enhance life skills for 500 in the coming financial year. Working across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Bihar, the project will focus on supporting the most disadvantaged youth in India. Medha will offer its employability training program at selected under-resourced campuses and enrol 500 youth in batches of 25-30 each. Medha will also help students gain industry exposure through internship opportunities, industry visits, and industry talks. In addition to Medha’s direct operations and expansion, The donor's support will contribute to Medha building greater systems and capabilities for broader scale and impact, and overall monitoring and evaluation of the program and its intended outcomes. 

We foresee an improvement in employment outcomes, increase employability and enhance life skills for the underprivileged youth. We tend to increase job readiness amongst today's youth and increase career satisfaction as well. Through Internship opportunities, industry visits, industry talks etc. We want to create career awareness that will help the students choose wisely the option they want to pursue.
