There are many low-income families in the Bangalore Urban region who wish to educate their children but don't have the financial capability to fulfill this wish. The ones that can, usually end up using the little money they have to educate their sons.
This disparity is what we wish to address through VCT's Education Sponsorship Project.
The students enrolled in this project are from four schools in Bangalore - Bethany English School, Bethel Baptist Academy, Karnataka Genius School and Carmel School. 132 girls have been selected from economically needy families to support them in their education.
The donations received from Give India are used to part sponsor their fees. We encourage the parents to pay the remainder of the fees in order to stay accountable for their child's studies.
Apart from sponsoring their fees, VCT conducts workshops, in collaboration with the school, for the students and their parents on relevant topics with regard to raising daughters. Sessions are conducted on topics like exams, stress, fear, hygiene and menstrual health and financial planning to help them live better lives as kids and students.
Each child’s academic and developmental progress is tracked through school visits and meetings with their teacher/Principal, analyzing their changes and improvements in their studies, health, hobbies, social interactions and other activities.
The students enrolled in this project are all girls who are the victims of financial, social and cultural issues that prevent them from learning and growing into their independent selves.
Donate to this Education Sponsorship Project to help a girl get access to education, study and evolve.

A workshop was conducted in November for 40 students from Bethany English School on Stress – Management Strategies for Teenage Students. The session consisted of interactive activities where the students connected the host, VCT in-house counsellor, Susan. The girls had fun playing games and talking about their lockdown experience. They enjoyed being at home with their families, playing indoor games, gardening, cooking and dressing up while also going through financial struggles at the same time. An important section of the workshop was to address the rising occurrence of back-to-school anxiety. Many children were excited to go back to school while also being extremely nervous about it. Susan explained the concept of stressors to the students and how they were different for everyone. Various things play into this like having to constantly social distance, mask up, stay safe so that they don’t infect themselves and their families, catching up of the curriculum, exam stress, etc. They learnt about how to manage their stress levels and conscientiously deal with the anxiety they were facing.
