Foundation For Excellence Inc. (FFE, USA), a tax exempt, publicly supported charitable organization based in Santa Clara, California, USA was established in 1994. Its Indian entity, Foundation For Excellence India Trust (FFEIT) was registered in 2003 as a Public Charitable Trust in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is also registered under u/s 12A(a) of the IT Act, 1961, and under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation Act), 1976 (FCRA). All donations to FFEIT are eligible for tax deduction u/s 80G of the IT Act.

FFE and FFEIT are committed to its mission of helping economically underprivileged and academically bright students in India accomplish their goals of pursuing higher education. FFE seeks to accomplish its mission through its Scholarship Program.

Since its inception in 1994, FFE has helped over 33,000 scholars in India who are today very successfully part of India’s human resource legion. More than 95,000 scholarships have been awarded since FFE’s inception, to students in 28 states, amounting to approximately INR 361 Crores. In FY 2022-23 alone, 13,579 students were awarded scholarships totaling INR 59.62 Crores to students attending 438 Engineering colleges, 295 Medical Colleges, 52 BPharm colleges and 54 Law Institutes. 

The scholarship program is being augmented with skills training program and mentoring - both designed to enhance work skills leading to employability.  When employed, students are able to lift their families to a higher economic bracket within a single generation. They soon contribute to their families and to FFE.

By being the student recipient of an FFE scholarship, it is expected that the students will become philanthropic themselves and "give back" when they are financially able. FFE alumni connect FFE to their professional and personal networks including corporates that employ them, become role models in their community and also mentor student, with a multi-generational multiplier effect.
