Provide quality education for about 30 rural tribal children for 1 month in Siksha Kendras of Seva Mandir

In the remote rural and tribal areas of Udaipur and Rajsamand, districts, southern Rajasthan, access to education is a huge problem. Government run schools are unable to service the rural population efficiently due to the remoteness of most communities, with many centers understaffed and under resourced, or located many miles away from small villages and hamlets. This issue has led to many children being kept away from school and work to support their family’s incomes. One result of this is that many children remain illiterate or having a very low understanding of language and math’s, catalyzing the devastating cycle of poverty.

In response to this situation, Seva Mandir runs its Shiksha Kendra program. Shiksha Kendras are ‘bridge-schools’ that offer education at a primary level to children aged between 6 and 14 years old, who have never attended school or have dropped out entirely. The Shiksha Kendras offer an engaging, active and quality syllabus created by Seva Mandir, with the primary aim being to ensure that the children can read, write and articulate in Hindi alongside understanding fundamental mathematical concepts. Recently, English language classes have started to be introduced into these schools. Shiksha Kendras are set up in remote communities once a need has been identified.

This project supporting Shiksha Kendras will result in the following outcomes:-

1. Providing quality education to rural and tribal children aged between 6 to 14 years old.
2. 30% of children will acquire the ability to reach a Level 3 ability.
3. 25% of age appropriate and eligible children will enrol in a higher education institution to continue their education.
4. Increase in the teaching and learning level and quality of English language.
5. Increase in the retention of children who have graduated from Shiksha Kendras in government or private education.
