Covid-19 Relief Packages

Craftizen Foundation, founded in 2014, is a section 8 (not for profit) company focused on craft based livelihoods for marginalised communities. We are currently managing 20 centres for skill training and craft production across Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The centres support year round livelihoods for persons with intellectual disability and unskilled women from low-income families. To date we have impacted over 2,000 beneficiaries through capacity building for self employment and formation of group enterprises.

Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, all of our centres have been closed. All work is on hold and since most of our artisans receive income for job work / output based, their incomes have been adversely affected. Other earning members in their families are daily wage earners and many of them live hand to mouth, which means that in the current lockdown scenario they have no alternate means of income or savings.

Craftizen is committed to supporting all of our artisan families to ensure they have access to basic food rations and essentials for survival of their families.

With the high degree of uncertainty of the current pandemic, we see the dire need to support these families with essential supplies to get through this phase. We will be distributing ration relief kits to all our artisan families who are in need.

Each kit will contain the following essentials to suffice a family of 4 - 6 members for upto 1 month:

•          Rice – 10 kgs

•          Dal – 2 kgs

•          Cooking Oil – 1 Ltr

•          Salt – 1 Kg

•          Sugar – 1 Kg

•          Masala – 2 Packets

•          Soap – 2 Pcs

Each kit costs INR 1,000 which accounts for procurement of the said ration and nominal packing and logistics charges to ensure immediate and hygienic distribution of these kits directly to the families. 

We would like to raise funds to support 180 families for 3 months, across Bangalore (Urban and Rural) and Hyderabad.

With the supply of the above kits, we will directly be benefiting over 1000 individuals in 180 families from low income communities. This kit will ensure the families have food on their tables even without any inflow of income from any source for a few weeks.

All of these families require our support to cope with the current situation. They are keen to join the workforce as soon as it is permissible and earn their daily bread. But till such time as there is a lockdown and uncertain economic outlook, their survival depends on the support we can provide.
