The children who live on the streets with or without their families, are at high risk from various evils of street life such as physical abuse, substance abuse, gambling, theft, etc. Most of them live with some semblance of a family (mostly dysfunctional), but generally get drawn into these evils or at the least working at the cost of their education.

Salaam Baalak Trust has set up Day Care Centres and Night Shelters for street children at risk. The main intention is to educate these children so that they can make something of their lives and earn a respectable living. In the process other needs are also fulfilled such as shelter, nutrition, health care and life skills.

To ensure that the children do not drop out of the education system. If they are unable to complete formal education then they are supported through non-formal education in the form of NIOS. They are given training opportunities in their field of choice and finally possible employment opportunities with our partners in business and industry. The final impact sought is to make them independent and contributing members of society.
