If being born in a poor family is unfortunate, being born as a girl in a poor family is an even bigger misfortune. Over the last 5 years, we have met 1L+ households in urban poor slums and if there is one trend which has come across strongly - it is that parents choose to send the boys to a private school while their girls to government schools.
We want to change this reality for 500 girls an opportunity to study in good private schools and we need your help in this!
It's often a huge inertia to send off girls to a good private school. We spoke with parents and realized if we were to somehow break this inertia by sponsoring, 1 year fee of their daughter's school fee, it could help parents to overcome this bias and continue to send their daughters to the same school as their sons.
Our team has identified 10 such private schools which are giving partial scholarships and will continue to do so in the future to these 500 girls!
We want to change the sentiment in the community and in the families where only boys are sent for a quality education to private schools while girls struggle to get a good education. Sponsoring 500 girls in the community to go to a private school will set up an example and break the inertia and bias among families
