₹25,000 can secure one child’s education for a year | 80G tax benefits

Access to meaningful learning is shaped not just by textbooks, but by the environment in which a child feels seen, safe, and capable. When that ecosystem is right, children don’t just learn—they begin to believe in themselves.
Gaurav is one such child.
At 11–12 years old, after 3–4 years of schooling, Gaurav could not read or write. He could not count beyond 20. His father came to us with a quiet plea—“Bas padhna seekh jaye” (If only he learns to read). Gaurav had started avoiding school. Sitting in class made him anxious. He felt left behind, invisible, and incapable.
When Gaurav joined Digantar Vidyalaya, we did not force him into silence or discipline him into stillness. Instead, we gave him:
Learning happened through story-listening, picture-based reading, free access to the library, and respect for his pace.
Slowly, something shifted.
Gaurav became confident that he can learn.
He began reading, writing, and staying back longer to learn.
Today, Hindi story books are his anchor. He reads fluently. He creates stories. He carries books even on community outings. His teacher says he often practices late into the night—not because he has to, but because he wants to.
This is what happens when a child is allowed to learn with dignity and freedom of pace of learning.
But Gaurav is NOT the only child, there are more children like him. They don’t need more years of schooling but they need the right conditions to learn.

In 1992, in the small settlement of Kho Rebariyan, a school began without walls or a roof—only children, a few teachers, and a shared passion for education. Classes were held under the open sky, beneath trees. At a time and place where families had never sent their daughters to school, education—especially for girls—felt like a distant dream.

But slowly, the narrative changed. Parents began watching their children learn and speak with confidence. Trust grew. The community opened their homes, offered rooms for classes, contributed labour, and collectively raised funds to build the first classroom. Brick by brick, pillar by pillar, it became their own school—built through shared hope and collective effort.

At present, the school serves 60 children, guided by 2 dedicated teachers. Most families have migrated from other states for work, and the school provides a culture where each child’s language, habits, behaviour, and identity are respected and accepted. Since its inception, the school has offered completely free education to every child.
This year, the school is facing a severe funding crisis.
Without urgent support, Digantar Vidyalaya may be forced to shut down, disrupting the learning journey of 60 children like Gaurav—children who have finally begun to believe they can learn.
