DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTRE - PERUMBAKKAM

Perumbakkam is a settlement area of Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB). More than 3000 differently abled people live with their families in this locality. Due to limited mobility and no access in public transport, they are unable to avail information and services related to their disabilities. There is need to put in piace a fully furnished and accessible integrated information & Service Center to serve the cause of the differently abled persons in this locality.

To resolve the issues faced by the differently abled in Perumbakkam, the Govt. of Tamil Nadu allotted 600 sq.feet (built-up area) building to the TNDFCT in the residential complex of Slum Clearance Board in Perumbakkam. TNDFCT proposes to establish a comprehensive, fully-functional Disability Resource Centre to provide services like counseling, guidance, medical support, access to information on education, life-skills, employment opportunities and training suiting the differently abled. Proper infrastructure, a IT set-up, furnishing, etc, are to be made to make the Centre functional and accessible.

A full fledged disability Resource Centre will be established at Perumbakkam with of necessary infrastructure. IT set-up and furnishing. Regular counseling guidance program and training session will be conducted at the Centre which will functions as nodal information and grievances redressal center for the welfare of the differently abled.
