Story

India is facing a significant shortage of mental health professionals, particularly in rural areas. According to the National Mental Health Survey of India, there is only .75 mental health professional for every 100,000 people, well below the recommended ratio of three mental health professional per 100,000 population. Additionally, the majority of these professionals in India are concentrated in urban areas, making it difficult for people in rural areas to access mental health services. Hence, a large portion of the population is currently not receiving the care they need. Mental health services in India are also often not affordable for the majority of the population, particularly for those living in poverty or marginalized communities.

To increase access to quality care and improve the effectiveness of treatment, culturally relevant mental health interventions that consider the unique experiences and beliefs of different communities must be provided. This can be achieved by using evidence-backed methodologies in mental health service delivery.

Tele-counselling has the potential to enhance mental health services through improved accessibility, convenience, and privacy for individuals who may encounter barriers to accessing traditional in-person counselling.

The Sangath Well-being Center provides free tele-counselling services to anyone in need. Our trained counsellors are dedicated to understanding the needs of all callers and delivering tailored support.

We recognize that challenging circumstances can arise in life, and our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the assistance they require. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply need someone to talk to, our tele-counselling service is available to you.
