Runway of Hope 2026 | Support India's Government Schools

By Simple Education Foundation
Story

A child enters the school halls with open eyes, ears, and heart.

Learning every day.

Learning how to say hi, be friends, and help each other.

Learning ABC, 1+1, and what keeps plants alive? (Hint: it’s the sun)

Learning how to dream:

I want to become the president and give shelter to people who sleep on streets
I want to be a gamer and make my parents proud
I will be a teacher and teach children who can’t afford school

But here’s what happens.

Many fail to gain foundational learning skills; they can’t read or comprehend sentences, or even do simple 2-digit subtraction by age 8.

Only 30% of them go on to pursue higher education.

These children could have been the next big scientist, researcher, or director of India. But they fall victim to an unequal education system that makes circumstances matter more than their potential.

Today, 140 million children in India study in primary Government schools.  There are children in these schools with dreams, but at the risk of losing their shot at a prosperous, thriving future.

There is one way we can save millions of futures: teachers

One great teacher can shift a student's academic trajectory.

But India’s teachers are crushed under a wide range of responsibilities and little support. Teachers carry the state’s aspirations for a high-quality education system, but do not receive the support and systems that can enable them. In 2025, NCERT (PARAKH) reported that only 35% of teachers in India received any professional development.

Teachers are bent over backward trying to do their best and always looking for ways to do more:

It was a dream to see my class read a book. For years I wasn't able to do it. Today 60% of them can.
My grade 3 children used to feel so underconfident in English; it wasn’t just about ability, but just this hesitation. Today, they can read English paragraphs, and they are more confident and outspoken
I used to focus on what children couldn’t do, but never really thought about where I could get better, and what I needed to change. I am starting to reflect and do that now

That is the work. Teachers learning, re-learning & trying. At SEF, we work with the one person in that classroom who can change what happens next.

6 programs across 3 states, building the training, coaching, and classroom resources that teachers were always supposed to have.

90% relevance score for our trainings and 2x learning outcomes

Today, we work with 2 lakh current and future teachers and 3M children.

By 2030, we will work with one million. That's millions more children with a chance of a better future.

That is the runway we are building.

Every teacher on it is carrying a room full of children who still believe they are going to be president, or a gamer, or the teacher who comes back for the kids who can't pay.

By donating, you are not just funding one teacher or one classroom. You are funding every classroom those 2 lakh teachers will ever walk into, and every child who has a dream.

The future is in their hands.
