Manju, who is studying in grade 6 at Uday Community School, comes from very deprived labourer’s Bhopa family settled in Raekheda village of Sawai Madhopur. Despite facing constant resistance from her family, she continues to study and is the first girl from her village to go beyond grade 5. She has become a role model for other girls in her community. Following her footsteps, 4 girls from Raekheda will pass grade 5 this year.
With no technology infrastructure, and access to school amidst the prevailing pandemic, Manju and similar other children in Uday Schools are being denied Education for the past 4 months. At such a crucial phase of development where the loss of every second of learning has an alarming consequence on these children’s future, we are racing against time to provide them what they rightfully deserve. Donate today to mitigate the following threats of COVID on children from the marginalized communities:
1. Increase in Child Labor to meet family needs
2. Higher drop-out rate
3. Lack of safe space for children, especially girls in the middle of pandemic
4. Younger children (3-6 years) facing serious threat of slow physical and psycho-emotional growth-rate.
Uday Schools have been practicing inclusive education through a well evolved set of child centered learning methods since 2004. Our work ensures access to quality education to every child near Ranthambhor.
Then COVID hit and schools have been shut. Since then our teachers are connecting with the communities and the children. Our teachers are conducting academic sessions within the community in open spaces with small groups of children while following all the safety measures. We are also running campaigns involving children and youth to raise awareness within the community to prevent COVID’s transmission.
During these unprecedented times, children are provided platform to express themselves creatively which is published in our bi-monthly magazine Morange and circulated in the education fraternity.
This have also provisioned for a continuous discourse with parents on the Education. The efforts are helping children to stay connected with their schools and the teachers.
Ironically, the funding agencies have changed course to channel their resources into dealing with pandemic. We are facing a severe funding crunch as the traditional funding has fallen by 30-60%.
The donations received will enable us to continue educating 350 children, and avoid layoff of our teachers.

We are working to maintain that every child gets quality education and no child drops out of the school as a result of pandemic. Our work will ensure -
· The well-being of the children
· No child drop-out of the school system
· No child-labour as a result of the poor economic distress
· No child-marriages
· Continuous holistic growth of children
· Parents’ involvement in the well-being of children
We are continuously assessing the rapidly changing situation and evolving our plans of working with the children while maintaining the safety norms and involving the parents and youth in the process. We aim to ensure the children are provided safe learning spaces where they can also express themselves.
