Story

The lockdown imposed due to COVID-19 has caused tens of thousands of migrants to walk kilometres on foot without a proper meal to eat.

The most serious health hazard to hit the world is sweeping through India currently and has led to a painful turn of events. The lockdown imposed to Break the Chain of the infection caused reverse migration that has impacted the livelihoods of thousands of individuals. The rural and marginalised communities have suffered the most as they are trapped between the hunger and the virus.

There are instances of individuals who have not eaten a proper meal for days and have perished due to walking kilometres in order to reach their native villages. The mismanagement of the migrant crisis is a matter of shame and it is important to protect the marginalised in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis and provide them with essentials to tackle the negative impacts.

At present, India has reported 2,76,583 cases, with the death rate crossing 7,745 and 1,35,205 recoveries. The impacts of COVID- 19 seem to be unending, and our country already ranks 5th due to the rising number of infections. The main concern of CASA is to reach out to the vulnerable and provide them with basic necessities.

CASA’s vision is to reach out to more individuals to ensure their food security and proper sanitization in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. As thousands of daily wage labourers and rural communities have lost livelihoods and even rendered homeless, CASA will ensure alternate livelihood options though our various projects. Through our intervention we ensure food security and safety of the vulnerable by distributing dry ration and hygiene kits. Aso, we will be working to raise awareness on the precautionary measures against Covid-19 to prevent further spread of the virus.

  • Relief work for the migrants and daily wage labourers - Distribution of Dry Ration & Hygiene Kits
  • Measures for prevention and protection - Awareness on Self Hygiene & Sanitation
  • Creating awareness among people on Prevention & Protection from COVID - 19

Since lock down was imposed country wide thousand of people lost their earning and its hard for them to feed their families. The program will ensure food security for migrant labourers and their families affected due to current situation. The project will help communities to understand the importance of self hygiene to protect them self from corona virus. Awareness program under the project will help in creating awareness on COVID-19 at mass level most importantly in the rural parts of the country.
