Story
  • Tuberculosis and especially drug-resistant. TB is a public health challenge. An airborne disease, like COVID-19. TB is not only a disease of the poor. Anyone can get TB and the infected person will get the same strain as the source patient. Many TB patients are not diagnosed and put in treatment at the right time.
  • People living with HIV, Diabetes and Hepatitis have more chances to develop active TB disease and TB patients also have more chances to be affected by COVID-19. For many reasons, it is very difficult for patients with DR-TB to adhere to treatment. The DR-TB treatment span is very lengthy. Anti TB drugs are highly toxic and have many side effects. In the absence of proper food and nutrition, psychosocial support and adverse side effect management, many needy and poor patients are forced to give up the treatment regime. Some of them develop XDR-TB, which is a more dangerous form of resistant TB. Anti-TB medicines alone are not enough to cure TB. Without comprehensive care, the treatment outcome often is fatal. To stop the spread of DR-TB, a united effort is needed to provide caring and sensitive support to patients, enabling them to complete the treatment course successfully.

Facilitate support services to patients:

  • Identify and enlist all DR-TB patients and needy TB patients in a difficult situations in association with NTEP staffs
  • Support to access proper treatment and care.
  • Identified and trained 100 TB Champions
  • Timely follow up of all targeted TB patients
  •  Patient education and psychosocial support to family members as well as patient
  •  Advocacy for uninterrupted quality drug supply and ADR management.
  •  Document special nutrition needs of patients and doorstep nutritional monthly package.

Stop the menace of DR-TB transmission by reaching out all the needy DR-TB patients closely associated with NTEP staffs of Khordha district TB Centre within a span of one year. Trained 100 TB Champions to demystifying TB and stigma in community. Raise wide scale awareness using social media and main stream media platform on TB. At least 95% registered TB patients will adhered to TB medicines. All registered TB patients linked with NIKSHAYA POSHAN yojana and received Rs.500/- per month for nutrition.
