A building construction for differently abled adult

We have been running this home for the past 19 years and have purchased a land adjacent to it where we have proposed to construct a home for the mentally retarded adult men and women.

The main issue which we face in providing care to the mentally retarded inmates is the

lack of enough care takers and training for ADL (activity for daily living).

We have 19 years of journey giving hope to thousands of people wandering in the streets. TERDOD Anbagam strives to create a better world for those who are homeless. So far, we have rescued more than 2500 people affected with mental illness and have reunited 1600 people with their family members.

A mission was started in 1999 by Mr. Mohammad Rafi for providing shelter to some mentally ill homeless people. He struggled to find space as the number of people increased day by day. In 2002, Anbagam Rehabilitation Centre was established at Thirunilai, near Redhills with the support of Chennai Silks to provide systematic rehabilitation for the people and to help them reunite with their families. Currently it provides shelter to more than 350 people who used to wander in the streets. At present, it runs two centers in Chennai in collaboration with Corporation of Chennai as well as with Guild of Service, aiming at providing holistic support for the recovery of patients. Also, we have senior citizen home where we accommodate 80 residents. We have also purchased a land adjacent to our home, where we have proposed to construct a home for the mentally retarded adult (men and women). Now, we have 25 mentally retarded adults.

By this home construction and formation, we intend to help and support their activity for daily living and skill development training.mentally retarded adults suffer from mild moderate severe profound locomotive disability. Since the past 19 years, we have been providing care and physical support to the mentally retarded. We intend to provide better care and support and better training for better therapy, psychological help and support. We planned the ground floor with ramps to help them walk. The building is proposed to be of 4000 square feet for living in which 3000 square feet will be living area and 1000 square feet shall be for bathrooms and toilets for 50 inmates.
