Aao Pathshala Chale Abhiyan "Education and Transforming Centre"

The project addresses the issues of the children of nomadic community that is known as Gadiya Lohar. Due to urbanization and rapid development, they have been de-rooted from their traditional culture and occupations. They are either still roaming or are forcibly settled by the government to stay near the urban areas where they are suffering to sustain their family due to lack of proper jobs. The education of the children of this tribe is also affected badly as the mainstream schools are reluctant to give admissions to these kids because of their traditional outfits and lack of hygiene. Apart from this, number of problems exist in this community such malnutrition among children and women and adolescent boys, child marriages, superstitions, alcoholism, sexual abuse of adolescent boys/girls. Mostly children are non-school going or early dropouts. The children are always engaged in gambling, petty thefts, playing cards and usage of drugs. Girls are mostly either married at early age or they are at risk of abuse and sex trade .

Armaan has raised their issues and worked closely with this community. We understood that these issues are larger than life and require more resources and microscopic approach with the larger force to help this community at large.

1.   Informal education or pre school education by operating a full fledged Education and Transforming Center under "Aao Pahshala Chale Abhiyan” which aims at main streaming of the children of deprived communities by linking them with formal education system

2.   Bridging the gap to get admission under right to education

3.   Educational and awareness on health and hygiene

4.   Door to door campaign /out reach activities

5.   Community participation by holding meetings and involving influencers 

6.   Adolescent counselling and life skills education

7.   Vocational training for adolescent girls and women

8.   Games and sports involving youth

9.   Recreational activities (art and craft, outing, exposure visits, yoga/meditation, games and sports)

10.Arts Based Therapy and theatre activities for awareness and sensitization

11.liaison and networking with concerned department
