The Problem
What will lead to the transformation of rural India, especially the poorest districts in places like Bihar? People face multiple economic and social issues that prevent them from reaching their potential and ultimately contributing to their communities and the nation.
Project Potential believes that a bold approach is required -- one which trains a generation of leaders capable of addressing the social and economic problems of their communities and beyond. Training a generation of Village Visionary youth leaders requires the 5P’s: People, Purpose, Place, Process, and Paisa (resources.)
The Solution
This fundraiser is an attempt to support the development of Project Potential’s eArthshala campus in order to support the training of local Village Visionary leaders.
In 2017, with the support of Mr. Narayana Murthy and the family of Mr. K Dinesh (Infosys co-founder), Project Potential purchased 15 acres of land in rural Bihar in order to build eArthshala, a first-of-its-kind campus for training Visionary sustainable development leaders.
The eArth name comes from English 'earth' and Hindi 'arth' for meaning and economy. The hope is to build a space that will train the next generation of sustainable development leaders for rural India. The campus is being built with sustainable materials like adobe bricks and bamboo, and is being built by local artisans and youth, who are being trained on-the-job.
Throughout rural Bihar there are both those young and old with ambition, creativity and an incredibly aptitude for innovation that just need the opportunity and resources to create revolutionary products and this is a chance to give them just that chance. The photos above include the concept that Project Potential hopes to bring to reality with your help. They hope to build unique concepts like food forests, biogas plants and hydroponics that will help the campus fully self reliant when it comes to both electricity and food.
Impact
In order to support the development of eArthshala campus, I am raising funding to support the on-the-job skill training of local youth. I hope to support the cost of 20 youth learning various construction-related skills through on-site training for 1 month.
This is a 2 in 1 strategy as youth get skill training that can help them earn more at earlier ages while aiding in building this campus that will help create the Village Visionaries Bihar needs.
Rs. 3,500 - support the on-site training of 1 youth for 1 month
Rs.10,000 - support the on-site training of 3 youth for 1 month
Rs.20,000 - support the on-site training of 6 youth for 1 month
