"Someone is lying on the road. Many elderly can’t see properly; their hands broken and suffering head injuries. Motorists just move on, thinking it's just a beggar," says Dr. Abhijit Sonawane, the founder of Soham Trust, also known as the 'Doctor for Beggars.'
Dr. Abhijit left a well-paying job to offer free medical care to the homeless and destitute. He travels on his motorcycle, carrying essential medical equipment, to bring healing to those living in unimaginable conditions on village roads, train stations, and street corners. His mission? To give health, dignity, and hope to those society has forgotten.
This mission urgently needs support.

Every Life Matters
“Every day we are out caring for people on city and village roads, in trains. We care for accident victims, those with cancer, liver disease, diabetes, anemia, arthritis—thousands of illnesses,” Dr. Abhijit shares. He sees hundreds suffering from treatable conditions, yet facing the risk of being forgotten or left untreated.
The Soham Trust team strives to help, yet the needs are vast and growing. "We need walking sticks, walkers, knee braces, neck braces, medicines, and support for surgeries," he says.
From care to recovery
Dr. Abhijit treats patients with compassion and respect, providing them the care they would otherwise never receive. But with limited resources, he faces challenges in supplying life-saving medicines, pre- and postoperative care, and essential medical supplies.

Together, we can save lives
“Kindly help us, support us, and donate toward this cause. I am trying to reach as many people as I can to improve their lives,” Dr. Abhijit urges.
Your support will help Soham Trust continue its work of caring for and treating those who need it most. Together, we can give health and hope back to those who have no one else.

Your support is empowering Soham Trust to bring hope and dignity to the forgotten. Here's how your donations will be used:
🔹 Medical Care – Covering medicines, lab tests, eye surgeries, and hospitalizations for the homeless beggars.
🔹 Annapurna Initiative – Delivering prepared meals and distributing groceries to the roadside beggars.
🔹 Community Cleanliness Drive – Forming teams of beggars to clean community spaces, giving them a dignified honorarium.
🔹 Training Centre – Supporting a dedicated training center for beggars to learn skills like sewing, crafting, making phenyl, and cloth bags. Funds will be used for raw materials, honorariums for trainers, and stipends for beneficiaries, empowering approximately 50 individuals to rebuild their lives.
