Adivasi Awaaz by ALM

Prayog Samaj Sevi Sanstha (an Ekta Parishad member org) has been working in Chhattisgarh since 1986. Additionally, Adivasi Lives Matter (ALM) and Ekta Parishad work hand in hand in multiple states across India.

Adivasis (Scheduled Tribes) in India constitute 8.6% of the country's population, totaling 104 million people, which is 40% of the world's indigenous population.

With over 700 Scheduled Tribes in India who speak more than 500 languages, the diversity of Adivasis is not portrayed appropriately and enough, either in the news and media or in the world of arts and literature.

ALM trains and enables Adivasis to become digital storytellers so they have the tools to express themselves in their own way. We publish their work on our dedicated website, YouTube channel, and social media pages.

Our journey so far:

• 52 Adivasi communities in 13 districts saw an increase in digital literacy through our training in Chhattisgarh, Tripura & Tamil Nadu.
• Up to 500 articles and 100 videos representing the Adivasi issues, way of life, food, music, and traditional knowledge.
• 30 Adivasi women among the 150 creators have been empowered to report on women’s rights and other gender-related topics.
• Over 47,000 followers of our work on social media. 
• 33 Adivasi languages promoted through our campaigns and projects.
• Over 2300 viewership through our first-ever ALM Adivasi Awaaz Summit 2021 initiated conversations around Adivasi issues.
