Agaram Foundation - Vidhai

 Tamil Nadu is the home to 58,000+ government schools catering to the educational needs of nearly 1.5 crores of people. 22.5% of those are below the poverty line throughout the state, where the proportion peaks as high as 40% in certain sections. With the per capita income of the state being just 57,093 INR a year, the role which these government schools play in the education of this populace is significant. Despite numerous such efforts being initiated and implemented by our Government, it can be observed that a large group of students are being enrolled into private institutions resulting in hefty expenditures for acquiring something which has been readily given nearly to free by the former. After completing their 12th standard, a significant number of students in Tamil Nadu are not opting for undergraduate (UG) education due to various factors. These factors may include the perceived inadequacy of the education system, financial challenges, socio-economic constraints, limited support for girls' education, and familial obligations so it is imperative to address these issues to enhance college enrollment rates and enable students to access higher education opportunities.

We strive to bring about a significant positive change in the socio-economic status of the rural society by offering quality education to deserving youth. With more support from generous sponsors, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of many more deserving students.

On September 25, 2006, we started Agaram Foundation with one clear vision: no deserving poor child in India should be left behind without a college  education.

As Nelson Mandela once famously said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world.’ It is the tool which can facilitate social equality in a deeply fragmented society, empowering not individuals but generations to come.

• Make quality education available to deserving candidates by supporting them to overcome both financial and social barriers. We focus on providing appropriate learning opportunities to the rural population who otherwise do not have access to quality education.

• Facilitate a space for holistic learning that doesn’t restrict itself to formal education, rather contributes to the overall development of the student.

• Empower a new generation of youth with education, making them socially responsible adults with values, commitment and dedication to

society.
